My Creative Story

I am Pauline Dunleavy, a native of West Clare, and I consider myself very fortunate to have lived my life on the peninsula, bordered on one side by the majestic River Shannon and on the other by the powerful Atlantic Ocean.

My paintings are informed by the changing seasons, and this is reflected both in my landscapes and seascapes. I draw inspiration from time spent outdoors and my unique ability to identify beauty in the ordinary scenes around me.

Having had a long-standing interest in art and creativity, I started exhibiting my paintings in my Gallery and Craft Shop at Anchor Crafts, Kilrush. Over time, I have developed a vibrant, distinctive style, enhanced by attending art courses at various centers in Ireland, France, Italy, and America. I am very generous in sharing my expertise and encourage others to explore the wonderful world of art. As a dynamic member of Kilrush Art Group, I also serve as a coordinator.

My depiction of the sea is grounded in my regular exposure to the sea in all its challenging forms through my long commitment and service of twenty-five years to the RNLI as a member of the lifeboat crew and later as Station Manager. My versatility as an artist is represented by my use of different media, including oils, acrylics, watercolors, and more recently, encaustic.

People have had an increased awareness and appreciation of our wonderful land and seascapes, and I have completed many commissions to meet this demand. My work is very much sought after, and I exhibit at the Kilbaha Gallery, The Doorway Gallery in Dublin, and more recently, The Kenny Gallery in Galway.

Having participated in many exhibitions, I recently was delighted to have had the opportunity to show another collection of my recent paintings in the Clare Museum. I am very appreciative of the support of the Clare Arts Office in affording me this space.
